The word ‘OM’ is more than just a sound, it is more than just a vibration and it is more than just part of my soul name (‘Omto’) but it is in fact the vibration of the Universe. It is a frequency that can unlock soul memories, when meditated on, it can unlock many things, the keys to the universe are within the word “Om” and it is one of the most beautiful sounds that I’ve been working with.
This track that I’m sharing is using bells, gongs and the OM vibration as recorded by the Tibetan Monks as well as adding a few extra elements such as the drums that are heard. The idea is to create an EP of tracks that contain the OM chant to extend this ancient vibration and modernise it. In fact, there are so many ideas to work with this OM sound that there could very well be an Album that extends from this one particular sound.
We’ve already done a meditation track that utilises the same sounds. One thing of interest is that with bells and gongs. It helps a mind sit still, it distracts the mind from thinking. Have you ever noticed that when sitting in a busy environment and a bell tower starts ringing that the conversation pauses? That everyone stops talking and looks at the bell tower? It is because this simple and ancient technique which has other planetary origins helps with distracting the mind and bringing the awareness into stillness which allows the mind to expand. This is why gong meditations such as what Maya Boston at Maya Gongs performs in Perth, Western Australia, are of importance as it helps one to learn to clear the mind and be still.
As such, this is the track that is titled ‘Steven North Meets the Tibetans’ and is more ‘world music’ if it were to be categorised. As at 26/11/2015 this track is unreleased and there is an idea to release it under my own record label. Until then… enjoy the video 🙂
