Getting a website developed professionally can cost you thousands of dollars and when you're starting a business as a sole-trader, a musician, a hobbyist. Having a piece of digital real-estate that talks about who you are, what you offer, the services that you provide is very important but it doesn't need to cost you so much to start with.
Having experienced financial hardship over the years, Steven learned how to design premium websites for others with a very tight budget.
In this workshop, I'm going to give you all the information that you need to build your own website, how to obtain basic hosting services, how to shop for a design, the tools that you need and how to build it yourself using the WordPress platform on a Centrelink Budget and to allow for future scalability and upgrades.
We'll be focusing on the most popular website platform that is known as WordPress. Steven does have experience in working with other platforms such as Square Space but this workshop will be limited to WordPress website.
The topics that we will cover:
- Web & E-mail hosting providers
- Website design techniques (what to avoid)
- WordPress Themes
- Different Editors
- What plugins to use (EG: Security / MailChimp / Contact Forms / Online Booking Systems)
- SEO Techniques
- Basic caching techniques
- Image editing tools
- wooCommerce & Shipping tools
The idea of this workshop is to help empower people that want a more hands-on approach to their own website. This is NOT a sales focused workshop. With different customers having different requirements, the focus for this workshop is to be informative and as a guide.
